[1.1.87] Factorio Sometimes Thinks I'm Pressing CTRL When I'm Not

Fresh install. Dozen or so common QoL mods installed.

Everything running perfectly for a few nights of play (as is typically the way with Factorio).

Today, the game randomly behaves as if I'm holding CTRL sometimes.

Steam overlay is off. No other conflicting software running.

Reset keybinds to default.

Tried alt-tabbing and alt-entering. This sometimes fixes issue but not reliably.

Tried restarting game. This sometimes fixes the issue for a period of between 5 and 20 minutes. Sometimes not at all.

Tried reinstalling. Same deal.

No other software thinks I'm holding CTRL. Tested thoroughly, it's not hardware. All Windows settings related to keyboard are as they should be. Windows up to date.

Assistance greatly appreciated.

What is the exact symptom ? How does the game behave when you get a different outcome from what you expected, and what did you expect at that time ?

The game behaves in all ways as if I'm holding CTRL, even though I'm not.

When left clicking, I pick up from containers instead of opening their UI.

When my "open console" keybind was set to "CTRL+space", pressing space alone would open the console. (I since reset keybinds to default.)

I'm unable to lay stone bricks.

The mouse scroll wheel no longer zooms in/out.

I’ve had this happen several times recently on macOS, possibly with other modifiers though. Usually pressing the modifier clears it again. It might trigger when swiping to another window whilst the modifier is active - I haven’t properly tested it though.

Did not experience issue during 4 hours of play this evening with identical settings across entire system.
