"No light" seems like a more natural indicator for "no power" in a hypothetical situation where all other states have indicator lights. But i'm not convinced that replacing all warnings by indicator lights is a good solution, especially considering colour blind people.

what about a yellow lighting with a red diagonal cross on it ?
It maybe hard to get that's a lightning that represent power but the red diagonal cross must be enough to convey the idea that something's missing.
color coding is nice but to better convey things one can also use the shapes to help with color perception, blue square, red triangle, green circle, yellow hourglass.
inserter are so small on the screen though it makes it hard to use the few pixel available to make something easily recognizable but the actual yellow triangle with the unplugged icon does it well, if only it wasn't blinking .
It does just that, add a little light on each assembly (and chemplant or refinery but not inserter or combinator), green is working, yellow no output, red no input. Color that dot in grey or black for no power, assing a shape to each color and voila .

I think that's the default option when you use bottleneck mod.

No flashing should be an option at least for modder.
There are Mods which alter the icons and some who disable warnings completely - but there are no mods for "no blinking" because it seems to be hard coded.
And as stated before color coding is nice for me and maybe the devs, but shape is better for people with any kind of color-blindness.

Yes, this would be nice. Or at the very least make the flashing a static icon. It's quite an unnecessary visual irritant at the moment. Sometimes I just want to power things off.

No need to try and convince me, I'm just a moderator, my job is to keep the forums nice and tidy. The ones you need to convince are the devs .

+1 for some improvements in this area. The blinking is obviously not necessary, and when things are intentionally turned off by a power switch it shouldn't display a warning at all. I hope this still gets fixed eventually...

This thread is about general option to remove/exchange flashing. The purpose is especially to reduce the ability to produce epilepsy. But there are some more options to achieve this. (*)

If you look at the map, it's in a ghost state, or there's no electricity connection, or no connection to the logistics network. Or, warning signs often flash for other reasons. As long as it's a small amount of one or two, that's fine. However, when you start to blink a lot, such as during large-scale construction, it strains your eyes.This is especially critical when using mods or cheats that speed up the game.
So, it would be nice to have an option to integrate these blinks, or turn them off, or control them in some other way.

My eyes are too tired.Especially if you look at it for end game, you will get more tired.
It's even more lethal if you move into the late game and work mostly on the map.
