Hi there! I have come across a problem with uploading mods.

When I try to upload any of my mods, it shows following error:

connected
ready
uploading jetpack.rar, 0.0MB of 0.1MB (0%)
uploading jetpack.rar, 0.1MB of 0.1MB (100%)
internal error: 5bef1536-c610-46a4-99f3-38583d046dba

Number and letters varies from mod to mod.
The mod is version 1.1.0 and I am using factorio 1.1.32 from the server list. I even tried to change the mode reqiurements to 1.1.32, still doesn´t work.

You are trying to upload .rar files, but mods should be uploaded as .zip files for Factorio.

I am currently playing space exploration mod and I trimmed all surfaces where possible and I am still not under 150 MB.

Could you enlarge it a bit or help me in another way?

Sorry, I won't be raising the save file limit. Maps that big require too much server memory to run this as a free service.

LD_PRELOAD mimalloc. i have a thread on it somewhere here. it will use 25% of the memory as before, and up to 50% less cpu.

That might help and I might add support for it. But it's unlikely to help enough for a 150MB map.

that's true! if anything i would keep the limits the same and just take advantage of the fact that you'll have more CPU time to share for more maps to run at once.

OP should instead go through their bases and actually eliminate more surfaces, walls, tiles, turrets, electric poles - things that all contribute to the save file size. or just start a new map. it's also fun.

The mod, Space Exploration uses much much memory and makes big save data.
Whether or not to allow it will depend on the server administrator's policy.

When I won the game, memory usage was about 3.5GB, save data was 200MB.
Sure, I trimmed and deleted map data as much as possible.

And, there is an issue that uses much memory... about 3 times ( about 11GB ) when I update base/mods version then initial converting the map.
I reported to Earendel on discord about the issue in April.
I don't know if the issue will be fixed.

download the map, adjust settings locally, upload the map again. (keep a backup of the original for safety)

Yes, the size limit only applies to uploading.

About the open-sourcing.... would it be possible for you to open source parts of the project? that way even if is useless for someone wanting to host their own instance of this it would allow others to help you with parts of the service without you having to expose the most delicate parts.

This is a possibility. The code is modularized. What part do you want to see?

I know that depending on the modularity of the project this may not be feasible but what about creating a repository for the webpage for example as in the html css and js? People would be able to send merge requests with improvements and you can choose to implement them or not and at the end of the day, the html css and js are kind of already available although minified.

I've already done this. I haven't made it public yet. Is there interest out there?

Another suggestion is to allow integration with our own cloud storage, so we can for example put an API key for google drive and have our saves and everything stored on our clouds without wasting space on yours and i know that google drive is probably not the best example for this.

Storage isn't a huge concern. Most of the cost is compute now. I have considered allowing it to point to external resources.

As other mentioned some kind of method to sharing administration would be awesome, be it by login, a unique url, a token key or a password.

There is no plan for that. Can't you just start it with the computer you're playing Factorio on?

If you can send me a private message on here or Discord with the last server IP and port, I'll take a look at and see if I can diagnose the problem.

A workaround for this is:
1. Open https://factorio.zone on your computer and also on your phone.
2. On your computer, type this into the address bar:

3. On your phone, type this into the address bar:

Code: Select all

javascript:localStorage.setItem('userToken', 'YOUR 24 CHARACTER TOKEN')

4. Reload the webpage on your phone.

Note: if copying and pasting the javascript bits, you may need to manually type in the

at the start of the URL (most browsers remove it to stop people blindly copying and pasting dodgy things).

Tested on an Android device, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on iOS.

I am fairly sure this does not work on IOS. I looked & I think it is impossible to run javascript on at least Safari using an iphone.

I'm not sure what you're asking. What do you mean by original archive?
