Figured out how to do a link to source with quote titles.
I don't know if this can be enabled for the default quote buttons, but it's potentially very useful if you're referencing a post in another thread, or much earlier, or even pages off-site entirely.
Format is as follows:
[url=URL_LINK][quote="AUTHOR"][/url]QUOTE_TEXT[/quote]
Demonstrated in my signature.
[url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4al-2GHDK4g#t=1341][quote="Colonel Failure"][/url]You can lose your Ecologist Badge quite quickly once you get to the point of just being able to murder them willy-nilly without a second care in the world.[/quote]

Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
I would be a fan of this. Linking to the original post would be very handy.
Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
Looks great. Two Impediments:
- I use often ipad. It's sometimes hard to write big posts with it. Even harder to write []
- I think this link will be overseen.

Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
I think (if i can read, no guarantee there) that he's asking if the default buttons above the text box on a new post (or thread) include the URL-QUOTE
Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
Doing this is no harder than making any other text become a hotlink.
Use the buttons above the text editing box.
It's pretty rare for me to put in BBCode manually for anything other than bold and italics.
The fact that it does it in pairs is a bonus, but the key to using it effectively is to highlight text you want to encapsulate before you click one of the buttons.
I think a better implementation would be to include a link= field in the quote functionality, as found on several other fora. (One specific example is Bay12)

Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
.. why are your suggestions above the text?
Is that normal on iOS?
And what about the autocorrect suggestions when you've got a whole sentence selected!?
Seems like a poor design choice, since you're much more likely to refer back to what you've written recently, than to what you've yet to write...
... I was going to put something positive here, but, well, Apple pretty much screwed up the UI here.

"Nachschlagen" means "translate".
And I must say you're somehow right, but also wrong: it's never intended by anyone to write walls of text in a tiny window (you need to halve the size of the pic, to see, what I see, cause of retina display). iOS is not designed for that, and - as you see - they have good reasons for that.
and the good news is, that I don't do that normally...

Well, this is just further proof that Android rules, iOS drools.
I've composed many, many forum posts and emails via my phone, and it's got a higher DPI than the retina displays

Re: Forum Quote Sourcing
Being that it's currently used on hundreds of pages, seems fine from here.
