Add a clear button

When searching a mod I need to manually delete my former search. I would like to have a clear button, that deletes my former search.

E.g. search with google. After typing the first letter the input field becomes a clear button added onto the right end of the text input. A common pattern meanwhile.

Doesn't right click clear it like in train stops?

I guess Ssilk is talking about the mod portal , and not the internal mod browser.
If it's the case, clicking on "Mod portal" works.
