"We reap what we sow."
The new german government was quite undiplomatic. I wonder, if former chancellor "Merkel" would had better success with deescalation.
You call a "success" - free Crimea, 2 half's of Ukrainian regions and not even a sanction. A "success" which continued into full scale invasion 8 years later?

That doesn't sound good:

"Deputy Chief of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has warned the United States could face nuclear catastrophe if it continues what he has dubbed a conspiracy to destroy Russia. Since the end of the Soviet Union in 1991, the US has conspired to destroy Russia as part of a “primitive game”. “It means that Russia must be humiliated, restricted, crushed, divided and destroyed,” Medvedev’s statement said on Wednesday. The 56-year-old politician was head of state from 2008 to 2012 and is one of President Vladimir Putin’s closest confidants.

Cmon dude, its the usual agenda that russians discuss every week on TV since like 1995. And it's aimed not at US but at russian citizens so that they feel a) united under threat by a common enemy b) feared that if holy putin disappeared US army will be in moscow.

His Disney studios of course can prepare any sci-fi movie and put it on their military tv fake news as they did many years before.
But how do you explain nuclear winter to world and russians? And in what world would putin's chilren live? Covered by ash?
His biggest ambition is conquering as much territories and for his ancestors to remember him as biggest tzar in the world, and not destroying everything.

Just FYI his children and mistresses live in Europe.

I think this and facial chirurgy are like taboo subject in russian media from what i can see, also the number of soldier that got killed during the war, there was a 9000+ number that was published then removed from a russian media that still operate

Well written. Judging by the answers of the guys from Ukraine, in their school does not teaching of critical thinking. After all, there is a government for this, he will chew the information and put it in his mouth.
I think your are confusing my opinion with the truth.

I have just come across this section on the forum - first time post.
Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth here! Love the game, Wube.

Regardless of who you believe is at fault and who you side with -What we now SEE going on in Ukraine is tragic and wrong. I don’t believe anything I am told, I use my eyes to see what is happening (and don’t bother even trying to tell me that every piece of video and every interview with independent individuals in Ukraine is fake news!) My heritage is part Czech - my father survived a concentration camp in World War 2. He saw friends die. He suffered psychologically from his experiences during the war. He died when I was 5.

Like the ‘innocent civilians’ from my country, that were killed after being shot down over Ukraine on 17 July 2014, INNOCENT human beings are being killed! Yes we have seen it all over the world before, in different countries - doesn’t make what is happening justified.
I find it laughable that a few of you think you are so knowledgeable on your history and your analysis of the pros/cons of all the players involved in this 'conflict' and why it occurred. We know throughout history most conflicts have occurred due to abuse of power and ego. The only important thing is that it stops and doesn't escalate. Unfortunately there are the usual suspects, stubborn main players involved and as per usual the so called leaders of various nations have their own political, economic and power interests at heart and when necessary will lie or tell half truths to justify it and usually the end result is the general populations suffers in some way. Why waste so much time and energy (in this forum) over something you have no control over or say in. Some of the inane comments and opinions are unbelievable.

I can only pass my thoughts and prayers on to both the people of Ukraine and of Russia who are caught up in this political cesspool.

Often, those news are not important enough, that they make it in the mainstream media. But, I think it's important to hear, what they are saying.

Who ?

I'm asking because is it fox news ? is it mister Medvedev ? do you mean the Russian government ? the russian media ?

Because as far as i can tell the russian media have to follow the russian government line, and the russian citizens are not allowed to publicly voice their feelings if those contradict the russian government line.

It is forbidden as a foreigner to go in russia and ask question to the citizens in the street about Ukraine, and citizens that answer can be fined or jailed.

Therefore i wonder what do you refer by "they", is that "the russians" like it's a monolitic people that all think the same ?

Edit : it's was a bit provocative maybe given the oratory precaution you take to stay "neutral". I think it's important to contextualize what you hear, for example in a trial it's important to hear the witness, the victim and the accused person, but when you hear from the different parties, you do not give the same value to all hearings, you should scrutinize every saying, but the witnesses, the victim and the accused person do not have the same interest and the same biais when they will explain their truth.

There could be a difference between the "official" stance and what the people think but are not allowed to voice, the opinion polls not stated-owned are forbidden in russia, there was no foreign ones as far as i'm aware, only government owned and 1 from opposition member Navalny, now jailed for years and his organisation under pressure.

It is important to hear what who is saying ?

The proof is that russia always lies. They say they are not invading = invade. We will target NATO weapons convoys = they dont. We will use nukes = we wont. Easy.
I would start worrying if they didnt threat with nukes lol.

I wonder how it happened, if it was a screwup, sabotage or a missile? Anyway, Putin is probably not pleased :-).
