Re: We support Ukraine
My opinion on those words is that i'm lucky to hear them, because when you see the career of the man, you know that he is vocal when he criticze things. And he did so against the official stance of his country several time without ever being poisonned or silenced or repressed. He didn't got promotion once. But did not flee away like Snowden or Assange. He is talking on a mainstream TV channel, not risking 15 years of jail. he has a position that is a minority it seems in the USA and it is controversial.
Re: We support Ukraine
Whose responsability is it that media are banned in russia ? I cannot form my opinion because one person is deliberatly hiding/preventing information. Mister Putin must have something to hide ? In this case you can only expect that what you would discover is "not good" otherwise why hide it ?
I said earlier in this topic that hiding things is common for government, but there is some sort of proportion. The MORE you need to hide, the WORST you must feel. Where/when everything is fine you don't hide. That doesn't help forming an 'informed' opinion.
Another problem that is not hiding, is making images to show something when you don't want people to see something else. The alternate narrative. fake news and so on. Both are "ennemy" of forming an opinion.
Re: We support Ukraine
Let's get something straight:
The so called "Freedom Convoy" in Canada was about some people not wanting to follow guidelines to protect their fellow Canadians from Covid. A small percentage of unvaccinated truck drivers decided to hold the economy of Ottawa and the entire country hostage by blocking roads and bridges. These people were joined by far-right groups, egged on by foreign agitators on social media. Nothing to do with Ukraine.
As for Russia. This country has demonstrated over and over again during the last 100 years that - as a people - they are dishonest and dishonorable.
Their occupation and looting of Eastern European countries got them accustomed to a certain way of life. This was lost circa 30 years ago. People who enjoyed the benefits of that life want it back. Putin is one of these, but just one - a large number of people in Russia pine for the USSR as well.
I hold Russia, not just Putin, responsible for what is going on in Ukraine today.
Putin is not in Ukraine, he is not posting in this forum and he was not born into the position he is in now. The Russian people allowed him to become what he is and the Russian trolls posting in this forum are part of his enablers.
My hat is off to the brave Russians who try to protest against this unjust war, but they are just too few. They need to go out in numbers like the Ukrainians have done in 2014 and get rid of Putin and his enablers - including the trolls in this forum.

I legit dont understand what you want to point except some unrelated nonce that everybody lies.
Re: We support Ukraine
This is ridiculous. You can criticize the EU when inside of the EU and inform Russian of everything you want. You can't critize Russia when you live in Russia, it's 15 years in jail for saying something against the army.
Since being an opponent is forbidden in Russia, no-one in the world can get informed of what's happening there. Which is not the case for Canada or EU.

I bet you wouldn't be saying that if it was your country being invaded.

Unless they actually directly attacked Russia, there is no excuse for Russia’s actions.ravage666 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:29 amWhy are they being invaded?FuryoftheStars wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:05 amI bet you wouldn't be saying that if it was your country being invaded.

Re: We support Ukraine
In the 2015 video of John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago
he says that Russia will not attack Ukraine because it's stupid to do a full blown invasion like in iraq or afganistan or south lebanon.
And of course doesn't mention Covid or what happen since 2015 which is 7 years ago.
You may need to update your informations.
