Funny thing is I just arrived in this forum planning on suggesting ctrl-shift-click as a "waypoint, no wait condition" for temporary station creation.Optera wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2019 3:55 pm Yes please.
Make the default action(s) for temporary stops configurable.
For example the ideal combination for me would be wait 10s AND passenger present.
That way I have enough time to get out, do my work, hop back in and drive back to it's depot.

Re: Please allow me to toggle a locomotive into "personal train" mode
Hotkey for toggling auto/manual movement on trains
Hello,
I feel that the above would be a great feature because you can quickly click on a train with the hotkey held and disable or enable it's movements. It get's tiresome having to click on the train and then having to tick the small slider up top. If we had a hotkey to toggle that then we wouldn't have to do that.

Re: wanted: keyboard shortcut to toggle train manual/automatic
Is this integrated by now? I can't find it inside the settings.
This would be damn useful and should definitely be put on the to-polish-list for 1.0

Toggling Train-Mode without Train-Menu
TL;DR
Add a possibility to allow the Player to set a Hotkey to toggle Train Mode. What ?
Add an Indicator next to Train-Icon when the Player is inside a Train and let the Player set that custom Hotkey to toggle between these Modes. Why ?
Standing next to Rails in your Factory, hopping on a Train passing by with maximum Speed and then immediately gain Controll over that Train (no need to Open the GUI!) to do some high-class-engineer-driving! ...then hop-off and forget that the Train is still in manualYes, this has been suggested before:

Yes, there are Mods (see linked Topics) for this but i think this should (in Honor for the Trains) be in the Basegame.
So is there a chance that this will be implemented "Someday"? Any Ideas on that?
Thank you for your precious Factorio-Time and sorry for these poor pics

It's common to switch this setting while not IN the train.Slayn25 wrote: Thu May 04, 2017 8:55 pmTab would work for both because you aren't using weapons while in a train.steinio wrote:Tab is for switching weapons, Q has already 25 functions in this game.
Honk (viewtopic.php?f=92&t=21623) uses key J for that.
Greetings, steinio.
Re: wanted: keyboard shortcut to toggle train manual/automatic
I very, very often use switching the train from auto to manual mode, so I would also use a hot key. I join the proposal.
Re: wanted: keyboard shortcut to toggle train manual/automatic
I copy from the linked article.
A mod that I can really recommend, because it feels quite natural in usage:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/auto_manual_mode
Jump on train in automatic mode, move cursor: train auto mode stops.
Could be implemented 1:1 into Factorio. My opinion.
Also quite useful
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/TrainModeToggle
My opinion for vanilla: when in train or on a train window press ”j” to switch mode.
The implementation is relatively simple, we just need to take care to mods, that already use the j-key for something else. Gameplay values is high.
I repeat that link above, which is a very similar topic:

I think that F or C can be used for that hotkey. Both of them are close to V and G that are also used for trains. You normally don't shoot when inside a train, so C should be fine. F is now used to flip blueprints, but so is G, I don't think it is a problem.

How about a shortcut for switching the train driving mode from manual to automatic.
It's not a big issue but also not that difficult to implement. Just don't have a vanilla assignment to not fuck up someones costum controls I guess.
The reason why I'd like that. Because it would make placing and turning large numbers of trains on (switching to automatic) much easier. Also you wouldn't need to open the train menu when riding one.

Re: wanted: keyboard shortcut to toggle train manual/automatic
I have the same passenger train network. It's the human way to travel. Try this, set wait state to "passenger present" AND "passenger not present" at all stations for your passenger train. That way, the train will always wait for your intructions before moving. You can have it pick you up, drop you off, move on, take a ride, etc.
Hotkey for Switching Train [Automatic] <-> [Manual]
TL;DR
Implement a hotkey for switching trains from [Automatic] to [Manual] and vice-versa, that when clicked whilst the mouse is hovering over a train, switches this condition. What ?
Literally just that, or allow hotkeys for setting the condition of a train to [Automatic] or [Manual] rather than a switch. Why ?
Imagine you are the engineer, standing next to your train depot and you yell at all your new shiny trains, Go Go Go Go! And all the trains just flood into the train network to do their thing. At the moment the immersion is broken by having to click on a train, move your mouse from the train to the switch button, click it, close the panel and do it all over again, I literally just want to watch all the trains leave the depot, because I like trains, and so do you.
Re: Hotkey for Switching Train [Automatic] <-> [Manual]
If you're not targeting a train, it could default to the train you're in.

Automatic Manual Mode
See also related :
(for trains at least)
Default Train waiting condition for the new temporary Station

New train stop "condition" "switch to manual operation"
EDIT :
And maybe also :
Half automatic / half manual train driving
Locomotive mode: Manual with assist

Re: wanted: keyboard shortcut to toggle train manual/automatic
Since 2.0.7, there exists a "Toggle entity" control, that by default is not bound to anything. I am usually binding it to "Ctrl+R". It works with 3 entities so far (2.0.69): with Locomotive (to toggle manual-automatic), Constant combinator (to toggle on-off) and with Power switch (to toggle on-off), however it requires cursor to hover entity. Does this fulfill the basic requirements of this suggestion?
