Hi!
In the tutorial videos, it is said that train stations must have different names. Then, in the manual, I found "pink = 1: Error - duplicate station name (deprecated in 0.13.0)" in the section on lamp color.
So, are stations allowed to have identical names or not?
Thanks!

Stations with identical names -- allowed or not?

Re: Stations with identical names -- allowed or not?
Short answere: allowed.
In a time long forgotten LTN would send trains to the stations by name and then the train would pick a more or less random station and arrive at the wrong place. So LTN station names had to be unique for trains to go to the right stations.
Then LTN was improved to send trains to the rail the train stop is connected to as temporary stop in the schedule. Arriving there the train then pick the nearest stop with the right name, which is the one connected to the rail for uni-directional rail setups. With that change LTN could now handle stations with the same name but only in uni-directional setups. Since then LTN stations with the same name are allowed.
And just a few days ago LTN was improved again (after the game go the feature) to set the rail direction on the waypoint. So trains now always arrive at the rail from the right direction for the targeted stop. So now it is always save to use LTN stations with the same name regardless of the signaling used.
Drawback is that missuing LTN with bidirectional train stops no longer works. But that is being worked on with a better solution.

Thank you for the details reply!
Re: Stations with identical names -- allowed or not?
just make absolutely sure your station is reachable, otherwise the temporary stop isn't created and you end up with the train at the other station. If you're not using filter inserters to unload what you want cleaning up your belts and chests will be a nightmare
