Hi everyone,
Been playing for awhile but cant get past red/green science very well.

Had a couple of questions:

1) is there not a quick easy to replace inserters with fast inserters? Rather than removing the existing inserter and replacing it.

2) Is there a good tutorial on robots and the red/green circuits and how they all work?

You can use fast-replace (plonk a fast inserter on top of a regular inserter).
Cant do that with long handed inserters, they don't have the same ... dimensions.

If you want to do that on big scale, you'll need bots, and the use of the upgrade planner.

The short answer is fast-replace or upgrade planner, as Koub described. To improve throughput, you can also research inserter capacity bonus 2 fairly early in the game, making normal inserters mostly sufficient until much later. Notable exceptions are iron gear wheels (iron plate input) and copper wire (output); two normal inserters are good in these cases.

The Wiki describes how the Logistic network works, especially the different logistic chests and priorities of robots. Two pieces of advice: avoid "concave" shapes in roboport coverage, and you should generally keep logistics networks small and focused.

For the circuit network, again there is content in the Wiki (concepts, tutorial, and examples). You might also find it helpful to look at the Combinator Creations forum where many examples that build on the basics are explained.
