Why Not Remove Inserters from Game

TL;DR

Inserters are the only way to automate factories.

What ?

Inserters are the only way to automate factories because the only other way to move items is using conveyor belts. Conveyor belts can't move items into and out of assembly machines. Removing inserters would make it impossible to automate factories which is for some reason against the rules.

Why ?

It is confusing why it's possible but against the rules to automate factories.

I don't understand anything.

I don't believe, that inserters will ever get removed, as they are a core part of factorio.
