Mouse hover while game is paused

Mouse hover while game is paused should display the sam info about items when game is not paused.

Why?

Nothing can be done in Factorio while game is paused. It’s a pause.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Exactly, active pause. You can stop, examine what You did wrong, then unpase and fix it, instead of watching some disaster unfolding :P

The editor does something like that, if you are paused

As far as i remember game.tick_paused has some weird effects on combinators.

“Because most other games does it” is not a good argument, because I know other games, that also explicitly forbid that you can do things while paused.

And from game-value seen: this leads in my experience to a gameplay where I constantly swap between play and pause. I would pause the game if I see some biters and “cheat” in many ways: e.g. immediately cancel the current craft, start making turrets instead and when unpausing I would run to that direction and place the turrets, that are built meanwhile. You spared some important seconds and I would grin, because I found a way to cheat the game. And so I try to find more ways and to spare such seconds.

But a lot of gameplay would get lost! ;)

I would like to know from the devs: is this a design decision or more a technical gap of the Factorio game engine?
