Hi, I´m playing Factorio for 2000+ hours and today I have witnessed my first Bug.
I have played earlier today without any negativ events. I saved the game and closed the program using the Exit button.
Some hours later i came home again, started my pc, started Factorio and wanted to load my save, but Factorio tells me:
Notice
[savegame location]/ZwölfterVersuch.zip failed: Bad zip file
So i cant open my savegame. The strange thing is, that i keep a duplicate of all my savefiles but I get the same error with both. The autosaves dont work too, same error.
Older savegames from previous games are working.
So i lost hundreds of hours of work
P.S.: I use the Upgraded Gas Generator mod. But i havent placed any mod entity in this savegame yet.

Some hardware of yours seems to be dying.
Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
If the "older games" you tested have not autosaved while testing them, your auto save should have a working version from "zwölfter versuch"Faulidenga wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 5:09 pm

Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
naw this is happening more frequently for me on 1.1.30 as well.
i've got non-blocking saves enabled. does the OP?
you could have asked a few questions instead of throwing out the vague "1/0 magic" BS excuses.
Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
What do you mean by "this" - game saves without any apparent problem, but the produced ZIP file is from some point just zeroes? (In this particular case, 99.9% of the file are just zeroes)
Also, what do you mean by "more frequently"? Normal is that it doesn't happen ever. Do you experience this issue regularly? Since when?
As can be seen from the logs OP provided, OP uses Windows build, which doesn't have non-blocking saving feature.
What questions should we ask when someone experiences this issue?
Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
Holly manoly! Does that mean savegames are not safe? I never experienced this bug, but I override my megabase save every time (vs creating a new one with ticking up postfixes).
I will switch to saving with ticking up postfixes for now, although this will cost a lot of disk space.

Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
Looking at the op's log file, I see
In my log file, it says (up to date win10)
I am pointing this out, because I was thinking, that maybe the zip libraries, the OP's OS is using, are faulty or do not work well with factorio. @Faulidenga: Did you change anything with your OS (reinstall, up-/downgrade, install or remove applications) before that happened?
What zip library does Factorio use? It's own or some OS libraries?
Code: Select all
0.001 Operating system: Windows 10 (version 2004)

0.002 Operating system: Windows 10 (build 19042)

Re: [1.1.30] Cant load Savegame - Bad Zip File
anything that would help in getting a solution. as you've pointed out, they run Windows (is it WSL? native? i don't know how that stuff works.) and I run Linux, so asking me for questions on my issue is probably unhelpful here.posila wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 11:03 amWhat do you mean by "this" - game saves without any apparent problem, but the produced ZIP file is from some point just zeroes? however, I didn't notice it before a fix for Steam + non-blocking saves went in during mid-to-late 1.1 releases. i never had this happen before that. and in my case, i have to wait a few moments after the save progress bar completes before doing anything.
it's possible they've quit the game before the save completes. that is totally possible here and it results in a corrupt zip file.
however, that still occurs even after the progress bar completes - i have to wait, to ensure the zip file works. sometimes i save it twice just to avoid the possibility of losing several hours of work.
after the third time, i set my number of autosaves to 99 and 1 minute interval.
