I am having this issue only on my Win 7 laptop and not my 10 desktop. Now every time i quit factorio the game closes and all is good but steam still indicates it is running and factorio.exe is still running. I have let it sit for hours before and it will never quit. I always end up ending the process and then it "clears up" the issue. I am confident that this method of shutting down leads to the files not syncing with the cloud correctly as well.The log file to my untrained eye looks like there isn't an obvious problem. Any help would be appreciated, Thank You!!

EDIT: I have verified game files and uninstalled and reinstalled both factorio and steam.

That is usually steam synchronizing save files, you can wait for it to finish or deactivate synchronization for factorio.

Is there a reason it would happen instantly on my desktop but take more than like 4 hours on my laptop? It isn't like running out of cpu or ram or anything that would be an obvious reason. Before the problem started occuring, when i would quit out of factorio the game would go from green (running) in steam to blue and would say synchronizing and that would take like a minute and after it finished is like when the time played would update and stuff like that. Is that not when the sync of files takes place? Do they sync while the game is still green and running? It is staying in the green running state just as if i was actually playing the game. It could maybe be something related to the windows 7 operating system. Anyway, did you try to check if it throws an error related to that?

Happens sometimes on my Mac. It's some kind of Steam issue, if I click over to the store from my library and back again (or even move the mouse up in that area), Steam "wakes up" and finishes whatever the process is that was keeping things open. I've had the issue with other games, but in different areas, sometimes the issue is on startup, others on shutdown.
