Spidertron grid size
Spidertron grid size
It makes no sense to me that the equipment grid in the spidertron is smaller than the one for Powerarmor mk2. Spidertron is such a huge machine it should have at least the same size.

Re: Spidertron grid size
+1 I also would like a larger grid to fit more exoskeletons

Re: Spidertron grid size
How about just make the spidertron faster from the start?
A player without exos is faster although shorter legs.

Maybe Spidertron Mk2?
Or a infinite research to increase equipment slots in the spider.

Re: Spidertron grid size
It would be super strong if it was bigger, almost certainly overpowered.
Also, the player is supposed to be stronger than a spidertron in many ways. The engineer is by far most important thing in the factory so the higher tier equipment should match that design principle as well, and one aspect where that balancing shows up is in how his power armor has more slots. He is supposed to do (and be able to do) powerful work in the factory in a way nothing else quite can (but the factory as a whole can outperform him). It's part of the game's balance, to make it more fun. It's also why you're supposed to be able to be an almost invincible turbo killing machine with power armor.

Re: Spidertron grid size
I agree. We can have dozens of spidertrons and they can work semi-autonomously. We can have thousands of machines and turrets. But there is only one engineer, he's not scalable, he can't visit multiple places at the same time. That's why he can be very powerful without breaking balance too much, his large inventory and equipment grid are just QoL features.
Re: Spidertron grid size
Not infinite, but two or three updates for grid size. Just like by the player's armor.

Re: Spidertron grid size
Since a lot of the space is taken up by exoskeletons, why not a research for spidertron walking speed instead?

Re: Spidertron grid size
And why not keep is as it is so the players have to make choices about what kind of spidertrons they want?
Re: Spidertron grid size
Yes indeed. The issue is that you even if you stuff it with exoskeletons, you can only have 3 (or 5 for a limited time if you have lots of batteries). This is arguably not fast enough.
Even making it 8x8 would help with this (whilst only increasing the total size by 4: 64 vs 60).

Re: Spidertron grid size
You can allow more types if you make the grid two tiles taller.
It won’t allow for a do-everything spidertron.
If you disagree, you could always just make it a little faster.

Re: Spidertron grid size
I support every one of these suggestions.
Except "keep it the same."
The VERY FIRST thing I did with my Spidertron, once I unlocked it, was to install the mod that gives you more Spidertrons. Like literally. I got in, saw the equipment grid, laughed, and exited the game to check for mods.

Re: Spidertron grid size
They are already OP because unlike your own power armor you can just make more spiders. (! important ! Spiders don't have any collisions with other spider !)
I'm not sure how you play with the spiders but I'm like placing down 30+ with same equipment and let them follow my lead spider everywhere.
And then I have different spider groups with construction equipment or biter clearing equipment.
