Why are my pumps so slow?

Post by cmnielsen »

Hi.

Why are my pumps filling the train so slowly? I guess I need to redesign how pipes are connected to the pumps from the oil tanks or maybe move the tanks closer to the train? I tried googling, but so far I haven't found an answer. The tanks contain about 8k of 25k oil, when the screendump was made.

When filling a fluid wagon you pretty much wanna go tank->pump->wagon, without any pipes inbetween. It's MUCH faster. Same but in reverse for unloading: wagon->pump->tank.

Wiki brings this up: https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_wagon#L ... load_times

Pumps are fast but pipes are slow.
Place your tanks directly behind your pumps

As said the best is tank <-> pump. This is a good illustration of the difference:

If you need to use pipes use underground pipes. Each underground section counts as a single pipe. Also makes walking around there easier
