I thought quite often, after I got run over by a train, to have some kind of module (like the belt immunity thingy)
one can fit in its armor to either:
- slow down trains while one is close to the tracks
- stop the train
- or give some other kind of warning
to reduce the risk of dying due to trains
in modded games they can be very fast and sometimes I dont pay attention to the mini map, or the signals.
train stop module for armor

Loosely related, I remember of this mod : viewtopic.php?f=97&t=21725
The name was awesome, maybe you can convince the mod's author to port it to 1.1

Re: train stop module for armor
Personally, I use more shield generators to stop trains in many cases.
However, there are also plenty of designs in the show your creations area for railway safety crossings, which use gates to both sense the player's presence and turn signals red, as well as locking the gates closed if a train is already committed to the route.
Some even have the fancy blinking red lights and bell sounds.
There is also the stock option of riding around in a spidertron. Trains don't hit you when you're hanging in the air from a set of spider legs.
Another modding option is including a jetpack. Burn some rocket fuel to leap over cliffs, trains, pipes and walls of equipment with the greatest of ease.

And I’m nearly sure there was another one, that warns the player with very big lights.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: train stop module for armor
Trains should still hit the player with that one - if not it's technically a bug. When I tested it in 0.17 despite having no collision box trains and melee attacks still work, though melee had some oddities where it wouldn't do any damage until the player moved slightly and the biter retargeted.
