I would argue this kind of game doesn't belong on a console.

The same reason you don't see many RTS games on a console. It just doesn't work well.

I've tried to play a few strategy games on XBox, Halo Wars was pretty much designed for console and it was sitll tedious to play. Also briefly played something like Command and Conquer which was just horrible.

Sure, you could move around and stuff but actually building anything, blegh. Sure, you might think plopping a few assemblers down is no biggie but consider your huge belt lines with all the intricate splitters and underground belts. Also consider something like trying to use the tank's cannon or flamethrower. Then you've got the problem of it being on a TV screen, not sure if you've ever hooked your computer up to a TV and tried to use it in a standard TV setting but I'll tell you it doesn't work. You can't read any of the text and you can't make out any of the small, finer details at a glance. Things like all the icons in your inventory and crafting menu, or what resource is on a belt (I have trouble with this on my computer enough).

Yeah but as the majority of people value their eyesight it wouldn't be worth it for the devs to invest the time.

Hi,

There is official support for keyboard and mouse on Xbox.

It has to be enabled on a per game basis by the developer.

I don't know if you're not allowed to only support keyboard and mouse.

Are could be said of Playstation, in that the PS3, PS4, and presumably PS5 all have keyboard+mouse support.

That said, I’m fine with Factorio just being a PC-only game.

It even got mentioned in the Poll of the Day on GameFAQs.com today!

Now that Factorio has been released on the Nintendo Switch, and the mouse-and-keyboard versus controller question has been definitively put to bed, as well as console performance concerns... I have to ask... are there any plans for a PS4/PS5/XboxOne/XBX release? Seems like a no brainer, right?

I don't understand the point. Are there people who still don't own computers?

There are people who have consoles but not a computer, yes.

That is an irrelevant point though. The main issue is that Wube made the switch port because the switch is something that the Xbox and PlayStation are not : portable gaming devices.

And I frankly would not want Factorio subject to “Vita Limitations” lol!
