"Server is not responding" When friend hosts.

Post by barnaby007 »

Im having issues when my friend hosts it constantly does "Server is not responding" The game nonstop stutters and will not repond for 10-45 seconds just to respond for 10. This has only recently started when 1.0 came out and since. The last 5 years we havent had any issues with either of us hosting. Our internet connections are way more than adequate. I havent seen any other forum posts about this issue.

all i can decipher from the log file after trying to direct connect via hamachi it just says that my ping went up, no record of the constant server not responding.

Log file location

Factorio keeps log files in the user data directory, next to the saves and mods directories. It is a .log file that can be opened with any text editor.

The file you need most of the time is factorio-current.log. Backup copy of the log file from previous run is in factorio-previous.log.
i pulled the file exactly from where your directions stated. This is the only log file i have sir.

Are you using Windows? Windows Firewall tends to get in the way of Factorio.

To get it to work over LAN at home, I had to allow factorio.exe for both outgoing and incoming connections (two separate tabs in Windows Firewall).

I initially said only private networks, but somehow that didn't work, and I changed it to also allow for public and domain. After that it worked OK.

You may have already done this in the past. But since you're running a new version of Factorio, you'll need to do it again with the new Factorio executable.

Also, you may wish to look at the contents of the "log file" you've included. It's readable, and it's pretty clearly not from Factorio.
