Low quality icons for items and science.

Post by andre2 »

Hi,
I play on a 1366x768 screen to which I connect my laptop.
I was playing with sharp graphics.

Then I visited my parents and played on a connected 1440x900 screen. There the icons and went dull and blurry. I think I upgraded mods.

Then back at home on 1366x768 the items are still dull and blurry. I dont know how to get the msharp again.

Any ideas?

You can try to adjust the scale of the user interface under
Settings → Interface → UI scale
Only at 100% and at 200% will you see sharp graphics for everything. All other scales show interpolated graphics for items, technologies etc.
Please be aware that this also scales the size of text and of all UI elements, such as quickbar, minimap, crafting window, etc.

Another option to check is
Graphics → Sprite resolution

If none of this helps, could you maybe provide a screenshot showing the issue, so we can exactly see what you describe?

GUI size is on 100% and wasn´t touched for a loooong time.

The screenies show the blurred icons. The text is all fine.

In the options window, the blue tooltips icons are blurry. But the text is all fine.

Are you sure the game is running in the native screen resolution of your monitor?
Does it look the same if you start the game in windowed mode?

Your graphics card or driver is using lower resolution texture than it should. Did you change anything in Intel Graphics control panel recently? Or maybe enabled some low-power options in Windows? Is your laptop powered from power adapter?

I updated the drivers.
That can be the issue for the blurryness.
I remember to put a slide onto PERFORMANCE for FPS instead of quality. I reseted it and will be testing it soon.

I dont use low power options and have the charger always on the laptop.

Thank you for your analysis.
The Intel Graphics control panel has 3 settings under "3D".
Performance Balance Quality

I switched from Balance to Performance. With going back to balanced the blurriness went away.
