Keep Equipment Grid Button
tldr When removing the character tab in 1.1, please find a place for the equipment grid button. Using the mainscreen suit icon, it's easy to accidentally remove the suit.
Why? Many times I have used the wrong mouse button to access my equipment form the main screen icon, and instead removed my suit. This dumps alot of excess inventory on the ground, and if I'm trying to switch to my grid to swap out items for combat, I might be incredibly vulnerable for a moment. I always use the grid button from the Character tab to avoid this problem.
Why can't I just remember whether left/right button is the correct button when clicking the suit? Many containers like chests are opened/accessed with left button, so my intuition is to left click the suit to access its contents. Of course it's also an item, so one could argue its equally intuitive to left click to pick it up, and right click to view its "definition" like a right clicking a blueprint. In the heat of the moment, I can't remember which rational applies, and usually do the wrong thing and regret it.
How? Please consider keeping the Grid button somewhere. Perhaps in an empty area of one of these locations: https://imgur.com/a/1yfPTyZ

I don’t think so. I’m not at my computer so maybe my memory is failing, but left mouse button would mine the chest.KeepGridButton wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 2:59 am Many containers like chests are opened/accessed with left button

No, mining is right-click.AmericanPatriot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 3:16 amI don’t think so. Oops I mixed up left and right. I was thinking the correct button but mixed them up in my head.
I always think secondary and left go together because I’m right handed.

Re: Keep Equipment Grid Button
Would it be better to forbid to unequip armor without inventory screen open?
Re: Keep Equipment Grid Button
I also mixed that up several times, and I think it’s evil purpose by the devs, laughing that you drop your pants and now need to pick up all your splashed items from ground.
Aka: not user friendly. But on the other hand going back to the old interface was the right decision: I never ever used that tab.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

I used that tab for all my roboport and exosuit toggling, as I always forget what the hotkeys are. I found it very useful and hope that a slim-line version of those buttons can be re-insertedsomewhere. Maybe on the armor-grid itself..?

I think it's a far better way to handle the "problem". Personally share the devs view : I don't see the point of a tab with duplicates.Sad_Brother wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:47 am Would it be better to forbid to unequip armor without inventory screen open?
