There isn't anything in the way, but is it just the nature of the beast or a bug? You can see its legs lag behind and the speed drops noticeably.

Re: Spidertron random speed slow downs?
I think that this belongs in bug reports

Re: Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Sorry, I see only a very dark screen and a spider. I don’t see what you mean.
Eventually it is slower for different underground?
Does not belong to Balancing. But don’t know where I should put it yet.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Sorry. The legs slow and stretch out as if they get stuck on something and the speedometer drops simultaneously.
Re: Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Provide a save and how to repeat this and I will move this to bug reports.

Re: Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Really, you just need to move left/right or up/down (happens less frequently, it seems) and periodically the slowdowns happen when there's no obstacle in the way. The legs overextend, spidertron slows down, and the speedometer reflects the slow down.

Re: [1.0.0] Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Yep on my server most of us use the remote to walk with him doesn't seem to happen with the remote control as often. Also it travels faster with the remote. (we've had races with and without exoskeleton)
The exoskeleton seems to make the leg drag happen more often but I assume it's because the spider is taking more steps per second.

Re: [1.0.0] Spidertron random speed slow downs?
Maybe related: when scaling a spidertron to 0.6 scale (as seen when spawning with Spidertron Engineer https://mods.factorio.com/mod/SpidertronEngineer) it moves very jerkily and unpleasantly.

Re: [kovarex] [1.0.0] Spidertron random speed slow downs?
I found out, that this is due to the randomisation of leg target positions.
I made some tweaks, so the randomisation is smaller, so it should generally happen much less often.
