My friend (from my suggestion) purchased this game directly from the website. Little did he know, and I checked to verify, when you buy from the website, it's buying from Humble Bundle. It seems odd of Factorio Devs to do this; Humble Bundle is the exact opposite of Factorio. They don't care about their customer base, they are slow to respond, and it's almost impossible to get ahold of them or get an answer from them. Believe me, we've been trying for the last few days.
He purchased the game through them, got a receipt for the purchase, but never a game key. So all through the weekend we were supposed to be playing, he's been sitting around waiting on their promise that it "might take a few hours" for the upgrade key (or whatever it's called) to show up in his mailbox.
He didn't previously have a humble bundle account.
Anyone else have this issue? Is there no way to just give our $30 to the devs directly, so we don't have to deal with an apathetic third party>
Avoid purchasing from Humble Bundle?
Re: Avoid purchasing from Humble Bundle?
I think you're mistaken. Humble bundle provides the widget for the payment. But that's all if you buy it on factorio website. At least that's my understanding.
So if your friend logs in on factorio.com, he should see he owns the game and should be able to download it.
Anyhow, he can write at the support address on this page and explain his issue with all the details, I'm sure the dev team will be able to sort that out.

Re: Avoid purchasing from Humble Bundle?
Thanks for your reply. From what we've read, it seems like you purchase through the website (through humble bundle), and humble bundle sends you a steam key. Once you activate it on steam, you can link it to your factorio.com account to be able to download it directly from them.Koub wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 6:59 pm I think you're mistaken. That's all sounds fine, we just never received a steam key, even though we got the payment receipt from humble bundle. His factorio.com account still shows as a free account.
This is coming from someone who bought it years ago and doesn't remember buying it through humble or and hassle.
Not sure why it's so convoluted if we want try and avoid giving steam 30% of the devs money. But it seems there's no other choice.
Re: Avoid purchasing from Humble Bundle?
Nevermind! Looks like he just got the key, just took humble bundle about 70 hours to send it. Too bad that we didn't have it for the weekend. Makes it harder to suggest buying it from the site. Factorio themselves are so quick with everything, it's just unfortunate they partnered with a company that seems to go against everything Factorio is known for (and this is coming from someone who has purchased dozens of bundles from humble bundle).
