Friday Facts #360 - 1.0 is here!
Re: Friday Facts #360 - 1.0 is here!
Congratulations on finally making it to 1.0 (or at least deciding you can call it 1.0, even though it's been more polished than most released games for years)!
Hope you are able to take a well-deserved break after this release!
Thank you for making this masterpiece. It's a favourite that I have kept coming back to over many years, accumulating hundreds of hours of fun factory-building. I feel like I should owe you more money for the amount of enjoyment I've gotten out of this game.
I look forward to whatever Wube decides to do next!

I actually had some goosebumps reading the news.
Thank you for the most amazing development cycle I ever witnessed in my 30 years of playing video games.
You've truly created something for the history here.
Two weeks ago, I show the game to my nephews who are 12 and 8 years old. They knew a bit a survival and crafting from Minecraft but not much else. After playing a bit of tutorial they started their own factory.
I could see the stars in their eyes. They fought for the mouse. So I told them they could play the same game together with two computers. Stars in their eyes went supernova.
A few days later I was explaining to their father how complex can you go when you focus on mass production objectives, and the whole new infinite world of mods.
That's how far you designed something classic that can work across all ages.
Now we can also call certain games "factorio-like".
You can take away that weight on your shoulders, you don't have nothing to prove anymore.
I bow to you, factorio team.

Sadly the main trailer features a bug rather prominently:
At the end, when the rocket flies over the smelters, it is being lit by them.

Congratulations to my favorite game studio with this incredible milestone!
Can't wait to see what your next project will be, but I'm sure it will be an equally amazing ride as this one! For now please enjoy your well-deserved holidays!
Also it is nice to see the kind words people have put up for the FFF blog. I truly believe that the blog helped elevate Factorio to an entirely different level compared to most other games out there; in the end it is not only the game itself but the total immersion into its community, where people share and discuss ideas, views, and game mechanics that really defines the amazing experience we all had and will continue to have with Factorio for ages to come!

THIS. 35 years for me, this certainly isn't no Kings Quest II.

I was hysterical when I got to the spidertron bit.
Congratulations Wube on coming to the end of this chapter of your (our? Our.) journey together. Thank you for everything. I'm sad to see this chapter close, but I'm excited to see what's to come.

2 million copies, times say... 100 hours each average game play (a very conservative number considering I'm closing in on 3000).TheCornishman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 12:10 pm To all at WUBE - Huge congratulations and respect for driving through to 1.0. Your efforts have shown the value of early access when the development team engages with its user base early, often and with honesty. I've played for thousands of hours (don't tell my family...) and you must be responsible for several millions of hours of fun. Not many people can say that.
Best wishes for the future. I'm off to check out Spidertron. Didn't see that coming!
200 million hours of fun, and still counting. Or time wasted. Or therapy time. Or time with friends. Or without.
That estimates approximately 22,831 years of time. THAT is an incredible number.

What about stretching the interval of the FFF to a monthly format?

Congratulations Kovarex and all of Wube for such a job well done. You've already given me 1262 hours of the best automation-gaming enjoyment available on this planet IMO, and I look forward to many more. You are the best example of Software Development Done Right. I wish you all the success in the world.
And OMG thank you so much for the Spidertron!

Yasssss!
Congrats on the milestone. I’m being serious when I say this: I have rarely experienced such an amazing, caring group of people working on a project. And I believe that helps lead to the awesome community surrounding thisgame way of life.

I noticed that the 1.0 update on steam is marked as "small update". Maybe you should mark it as big because big updates are featured on the main page.
In general I think a bit of advertisement on steam could help but I don't know how thats working

Was releasing this with FFF #360 intentional or coincidental?

Strangely, the release is still called 'alpha' everywhere - About dialog, download page... Why?
