Does it also happen when you set "Full color depth" in Settings -> Graphics?

Not sure why you are using this particular version of the driver, because for your version of macOS the latest is 378.05.05.25f19 , https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/378/W ... .25f19.pkg

Selecting "Full color depth" does not fix the problem.

I'm not great with Macs, but I thought the OS would prompt me if there were driver updates available. If I go to "About This Mac" -> "Software Update..." it says there are no updates available.

I'll try manually installing a newer version and see what happens.

I installed the newer nvidia driver, but it didn't fix the trees.

Well, thanks for testing with newer drivers and with Full Color.

The OS says it is using 32-bit color format:

I suspect this is a problem. Or not. Hard to say. It is desirable to use 16-bit color on your GPU, because it has limited amount of memory, but try forcing it in options to use higher quality settings anyway, and see if it changes. Posting a screenshot of "Settings -> Graphics" would help I think.

I turned on/maxed all graphics settings: Image
Then I turned them all off: Image

(I don't know why steam saved the screenshots upside down)

The trees look good now, but the shadows are still not right.

Hello, low graphics quality is not supported anymore, please remove --graphics-quality=low launch options from Factorio properties in Steam Library.

Instead, turn on Texture compression (Low quality is the least demanding option, None is the most performance demanding option). Well, maybe turn on compression first, close the game and then remove the --graphics-quality launch option.
