Cannot Download Any Mod Through Factorio

Hi all,

I have been trying to download a few mods and have been getting the error "Install failed for [mod]: Download Failed"

There have been no posts that have had any fix for this and I have tried many things, including:
Using Different Computer
Using VPN
Allow Factorio Through Firewall
Running As Administrator

I can download the mods that I want through the website directly, but cannot through Factorio. The logs have produced different errors almost every time I restart my game and attempt to download mods. The ones I have seen so far are error 404, 403, and code:7.

The attached log contains the logs for starting the game and me attempting to download a few mods.

I appreciate any help!

EDIT: Apparently I cannot download from the mod portal either and I get a timed out error unless I go to the URL and remove the direct. part of it. Strange.

Hey there!

Don't despair! It probably is an easy fix.

You write, that you can access the mod portal from your webbrowser. Good.
Looking at the log file I suspect 2 things (though I am not a pro at technical help):

1. A firewall on your computer blocks outgoing and/or incoming data from/to factorio.
2. The login token, factorio on your computer uses, is invalid.

Do you see a server list when you go to Multiplayer > Browse public games ?

If yes, then factorio can send and receive messages to/from wubes matchmaking server. If no, then that communication channel is not working for some reason and the same cause might prevent downloading mods.

Turns out that I had blocked the IP address, as my computer was sending tons of data to it for no apparent reason and it was located in Germany, which is quite strange because
1. I hadn't played factorio for a long time and honestly forgot it was a thing
2. if you ping the site that I couldn't reach(https://direct.mods-data.factorio.com/) it returns an IP that is located in London
3. Getting rid of the first part of the URL(direct), it would work fine and I could download the file.

Anyways, thanks for helping, and hopefully anyone else who encounters this problem may have made the same mistake as me
