Suppose I want to make circuit substrates (more mines, more everything etc.)
Therefore I will need a Pressure Pump.
Therefore I need steel.
In Bobs chem furnace, I need oxygen.
Therefore I need a Chem plant, which needs steel.

Furthermore I need a Pulp Mill for fiberboard.
That needs an Electric Miner, which needs circuit substrates.

8 hours in and I already I have at least 2 circular dependencies.
Help?

also there should still be the vanilla recipe in normal furnaces (yes it is bad but u have it)

Thanks for the electrolysis reminder, but the normal recipe iron->stone furnace+fuel=steel does not work.

But that still leaves me with a substrate dependency for the pulp mill.

EDIT:
Looking into the chain further, I need fiber to produce fiberboard.
Fiber comes from Kicalk plantation.
To make that, I need Classifier and Nursery and Tank.
The nursery demands another mining drill, and the classifier wants assembling machines.

I need 24x Printed Circuit Substrate 1 in order to start producing Printed Circuit Substrate 1.

Do you have PyCoal Touched by an Angel?

Even if you do, if the mods are up to date, my understanding is that you'll have problems like this, since PyCoal Touched by an Angel is not itself up to date.

You're going to have much fewer problems and a more challenging experience if you play a pure Py run. You're playing with mods that weren't designed to work together on their own.

No, I do not have Py touched by Angel, and it looks like the mod thread says its not ready.

Without PyCoal Touched by an Angel, Bob+Py is not going to play nice. And again, without at an absolute minimum cutting out PyAL, PyCoal Touched by an Angel isn't going to work either. Though it sounds like you probably aren't playing with PyAL, in which case it might maybe work? Probably not with current versions though.

Anyhoo, I figured that the crashed rocket still had a few bits that were "salvageable" (oh wow, 24 circuit substrates just what I needed!), so now I'm on my way.

I would like to point out that "What is it really used for" does not recognize that the Crystal Mine is to be used for Borax. I did not see that information anywhere until I hunted through the menus looking for buildings I hadnt made yet. And Crystal Mine is misleading, sounds like it should be used for digging up geodes or gems, not common 20 Mule.

This cost me at least 3 hours.

a short tip on that (it may be usefull to check on future resource patches / rocks) for you:

if you mouse over a resouorce patch and press q (default binding for pipette) it will automatically suggest a ghost building of the corresponding miner building, this is what i use to check upfront of new resources

I did try that. It works for coal, saphirite, oil, but not for borax.

Hello, me again!
Started new map, without Bobs & Angels.

Just finished all science that does not need Chemical Science Packs.

Chem Packs need Nexilit plates.
Nexilit Plates is locked behind Coal Processing 3.
Coal Processing 3 is locked by Chem Sci Packs.

To mine Nexilit, you need Excavation 1.
Excavation 1 needs Chem Packs.

To mine Nexilit, you need Drilling Fluid 2.
Drilling Fluid 2 needs Ethylene Glycol.
Eth Glycol is made in Centrifugal Pan.
Centri Pan is locked by Diamond Mining.
Diamond Mining is locked by Chemical Science Packs.

Therefore, I need 30+50+45+50 Chemical Science Packs (at least) in order to begin making Chemical Science packs.
Am I missing something?

We cant provide support for mixed mods. Pymods arent intended to be played with other major mods. This cause of issue can happens often and its unpredictable.

Well there is a way to get Niobium from Tar, but nothing from Tailings. There is only one way to get Nexelit:

There should be a recipe that turns tailings to raw nexelit and tailings dust in an evaporator. If there isn't then something got messed up with your install (which would indeed cause a softlock).

Just to confirm - there is most certainly a Tailings to Raw Nexelit recipe. As @Blokus says, there seems to be something amiss with your install. You should be seeing more than one Raw Nexelit recipe in What is it really used for.
