logistics requests: mirror the crafting windows

Post by aviau »

TL;DR
Now that we can have logistics request for everything, it would make sense to duplicate the crafting windows arrangement so that we can easily search in a layout that we recognize.
What
I did it manually and it took like 30 minutes. I am pretty sure that it would be a better default than the current setup.

In my save, I just copied the crafting menu layout by entering every item one by one in the same order as in the crafting menu and left one empty line between every category (see here https://imgur.com/a/74UsAiq)

I was pointed out on reddit that there is a mod for that: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/player_re ... ing_layout . The mod uses exactly my solution but it would be even nicer if we could have the crafting tabs too.
Why
It would make it easier to search and organize logistics requests.

Note: I posted this on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comme ... s_request/) but I wanted to increase my chances of the suggestion making it to the devs so I am posting it here too.

I like the idea. What do you do with the gaps that emerge, if you don’t want some items?
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

I did similar to this in my own save. I support the idea.

What do you mean? If you don't care, you can set an item to 0/infinity or just leave it blank (and then you don't do anything with the gaps. They're just gaps). If you don't want the item at all, you can set it to 0/0.

Yeah exactly.

And the equivalent of not setting any logistics request is setting it to 0-infinite. Its the same as not requesting anything and setting no maximum.

I thought about it. This works only, if you have also a filter for the non-0/0 items. Reason: you will not find your request anymore with some item-heavy mods installed.
