Went to play Factorio for the first time on my new computer, and it failed to start. Checked the game log and saw an error message that seemed audio related. I switched my computer's audio device from using my audio interface that I use for music production, to the default audio drivers in my CPU tower and the game launched successfully. I do not have to do this for any other games or applications, though - I can just play with using my speakers / headphones plugged into my audio interface with no problem.
I will add that I used to play Factorio on an older Windows 7 computer, but with the same audio interface. Haven't played in about two years though, so I can't say whether it's the newer version of Factorio that has a compatibility problem with my equipment, or something about my new computer that isn't playing nice.

I looked at the error it gives in the log file and the code is saying that your audio card said "I don't support that WAV format" which is weird. Since I've never seen this error before and we've done nothing with sound to configure it specially (as far as I know).
What sound card do you have that it's saying is rejecting the super-basic WAV format the game is trying to use?

If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

I'm using this interface from Behringer : https://www.behringer.com/Categories/Be ... ans(en|en)
Thanks for the quick response! If nothing has changed on your end regarding sound, I will continue to look at changing drivers and other troubleshooting with my interface to see if I can find anything else that fixes the issue.

Re: [0.18.18] Game fails to start when using audio interface
I just updated my interface driver to the latest version and Factorio now launches successfully! Still bizarre that my other applications were working fine while Factorio did not, but it is now a non-issue. Thanks again for the quick response.
