LTN - Disable new 'stops can have the same name' feature

Post by xmirakulix »

Hi,

I would very much like to have the old (pre 1.13.0) feature back, where duplicate station names disable both stations.
The new behaviour makes it difficult to copy and paste a station, it is immediately 'serviced' where I often would need to make a few adjustments.
I know workarounds for this can be made, but the old behaviour just worked great for me.

I honestly don't see the advantages of the new system, but I trust someone saw a benefit in this.
So if you wouldn't want to revert the changes, maybe a setting could please be added?

Thank you!

Deleted -- sorry, didn't see what subforum this was in!

A good mod deserves a good changelog. Here's a tutorial (WIP) about Factorio's way too strict changelog syntax!

I'm not going to add the overhead of almost 100 lines of code monitoring names and checking for duplicates just for that.

Disable the constant combinator setting requests before making blueprints, or remove it from the blueprint.

How can your entire network depend on a change that was introduced less than 24 hours ago?

It's not about blueprints, there it's easy, exactly as you suggest. It's about copying a part in a modular base where the new behavior gets in the way.

Because I've been blind and didn't see what subforum this thread was in! I usually don't jump into the subforums, but look for interesting threads under "New posts". You know the big heading just above the "Post reply" button etc.? This is the eye catcher I'll see, and of course the title of the individual postings -- anything above that main title (the breadcrumb trail showing the subforum hierarchy of a thread) usually escapes my attention. So I thought your suggestion was about the vanilla train network and directed towards the developers, not a single modder. In other words, you're completely correct: Your suggestion doesn't affect my game at all. I'm sorry for my confusion and any confusion I may have caused in turn. I'll try my best (but cannot guarantee) to be more careful in the future. :-)

Ah, well that's easy to fix - renamed with "LTN - " prefix (as I do with all my LTN train stops as well btw :geek:)
