Loading Factorio Multiplayer save file if not host (Steam)

Post by Lukasdb03 »

Hello, Thanks is advance for the help.

I am trying to help my son load his multiplayer save game file from factorio. He was not the host.
If he goes to load game and clicks on the file, it seems to turn into a single player game. Is it possible to reload that file as multiplayer or should he be saving some other type of into in order to rejoin that particular multiplayer game?

He has Factorio through Steam, and we are on win10.

Again, Thank you. I have tried for the last three hours to do google searches and I am lost

What exactly is he trying to do, rejoin the still running multiplayer game?
Create a new multiplayer game with that save file and him as host?

Generally a save file can be loaded in single player or multiplayer, but I am not even sure if you actually have a save file and not a scenario instead.

Hi Loewchen,

Yes he wants to rejoin a still running multiplayer game. Would you be able to provide me instructions on how to do so?

When he is currently in a multiplayer game all he does is click on save.

I am very sorry for being such a novice with this. Thanks for the help.

Regards, Amanda

That should be really simple, he just needs to do the same thing he did when joining the last time, his progress is saved on the server.
I do not know how he connected, but the most common way is to use the server browser which you find from the main menu under Play > Multiplayer > Browse Public Games
