computer freezes on startup

Hey I'm trying to play Factorio on my Mac OSX, but my computer freezes when the starter gets to 10% so i cant even get a bug report.

Im using version 0.9.8

heres my specs

processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
software: OS X 10.9.4 (13e28)

If anyone has any idea how to help me it would be much appreciated.

Have you tried 0.10.12?

Anyway, this thread seems to be related and has an apparent fix.
