Train Stop Tags
It would be very handy to be able to give train stops "tags", that they can hold along thier name.
While adding stations to train schedule, there would also be an option to add required tags, that an station must match all, otherwise will be ignored.
Reason:
With complex railway network systems, stations will become bigger.
To save space, we could use single station for multiple purposes, but stations with let's say "crude oil loading" migh not always have "iron unloading".
With such tags, a single train stop could have dozens of purposes.

Re: Train Stop Tags
Sounds like a mod. Which are already several there (LTN, TSM...).

Re: Train Stop Tags
This then would also require enable/disable tag on signal for it to be actually useful. Otherwise the station will run out of iron while having too much crude oil.
PS: build bigger. A station can have multiple lanes with multiple stops. Or multiple stops on the same lane so they overlap.

Re: Train Stop Tags
The problem is, that I actually need to use one station for multiple purposes, and placing several stops on one track is very impractical. Main purposes are decreasing size, cost, complexity, and increasing train route efficiency. On average I need 5 tags for every stop. If there is an mod that does just that, I would apretiate link, as I could not find it.
Re: Train Stop Tags
LTN will do it.
Re: Train Stop Tags
I have looked at the mod, but it has too much extra content.
Re: Train Stop Tags
And TSM (train supply manager)?

Re: Train Stop Tags
It's literally only a new train stop.
Re: Train Stop Tags
That's not what people call content. Content is the entities, techs, recipees in the mod. I would call it complexity.
And you don't need most of the complexity like different train networks. Or at least not when you start. I also recommend the LTN combinator mod. While yet more content it makes setting up a LTN station simpler by putting a nice GUI on top of constant combinators so you don't have to search for and set the signals yourself every time.
Anyway, you wanted something more powerful than vanilla trains. That will always be more complex.
Re: Train Stop Tags
I don't really mind complexity, I literally only want as few new entities as possible. I literally only need the tag system. Nothing less, nothing more. I will try out mods suggested in this topic when I have time, and may settle with one if they will be close enough. Thanks for all the suggestion.
Re: Train Stop Tags
I guess we just don't agree on what content is then because for me a mod don't need to add any entity or items (Or very little) to add a lot of content
Re: Train Stop Tags
Also the only way LTN could have less new entities is if it removes the vanilla stop. In most games I don't even build vanilla stops in the mall so it's as if LTN stops had just replaces vanilla stops keeping the entity count of the game the same.
Re: Train Stop Tags
There is other solution.
To make stop conditions as global or local.
Example
Yo have shedule
Iron plate load
Full cargo
Iron plate unload
Empty cargo
Belts supply
Empty cargo
For local conditions train will stop on each station
But on global IT will stop on two first only

Re: Train Stop Tags
Now you are talking about train stop skipping conditions. And it shouldn't be just that the train doesn't stop. It shouldn't even go there.Pat4yczek wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:06 am There is other solution.

Add possibility to tag train stops
TL;DR
Add possibility to tag train stopsWhat ?
Train stops tags. Custom tags that are indepedent from stop name used in train schedules.Possibility so search for tag in station list.
Optional: possibility to change tags via circuit network.
To consider: more than one tag for station.
Why ?
In a setup with plenty stations of the same name, this would add another layer of organizing them without affecting performance.Re: Train Stop Tags

P.S.: I would like to see more own initiative to search for an topic, before posting a new one.

Re: Train Stop Tags
My proposal has same name, but is different.
Previous proposal was for tags to affect schedules. I do not want that, I'd like tags to be independent from schedules, and only act as a aditional layer of managing stations.

Re: Train Stop Tags
Hi,
I've re-read both OP and your suggestion carefully. You are right about the suggestion being different, but I was wondering in what use case one would need both, and they seem to have the same use cases with a slightly different technical implementation. Am I wrong ?

Re: Train Stop Tags
In any way, even if both might be different suggestions (the “what”), the reason (the “why”) is much more important; and both reasons point to one problem.
Which is using one stop for multiple items.
The idea to use tags somehow to distinct between the different items is one possible way to do that.
