I see the changelog on Steam, but I haven't been pushed an update. Is it going to drop today, or when?

Edit: nevermind, I see the thing at the very bottom of the front page post.
I have mods! I guess!

What am I missing ? (excited to test at last !)
Check Technical Help, this has been reported and has a fix. Don't post bugs/technical issues here please.

Was looking forward to many of these improvements though I’m also surprised it was released so early. From the change notes (haven’t played .18 yet) I don’t see the new character GUI listed and I imagine that will be one of the more noticeable breaking mod changes (if the new logistics system removes the need for logistic slot bonus and trash slot bonus).

Is that something that can be announced in advance on the mod subforum? There’s a breaking changes thread that was used to announce .17 changes but the .18 release dropped without a release notice.

There seems to be a new sound for accumulators too? It's awesome. :>

We'll probably do something like that, along with lots of notice through the FFF posts

Just some feedback for you: I like the update. Especially the new main menu and the grafics. There's now a real difference between the nature which is bright and colourful and the factory which is dark and grey. I also really like the new map.
I'll add a little complaint to my previous reply:
I changed my mind after playing some hours in 0.18 about the colour correction. I think the game is a little bit too bright. I like the way the nature (trees, water, grass, desert) looks but the concrete and some of the buildings are too bright in my opinion. Especially the lamps. It got harder to tell the difference between a lit and unlit lamp during daytime. That's quite annoying because I used to build my combinator creations without mods like this one. So numbers or other things on displays are not as easy to read now. I still like 0.18 though and I'm looking forward to 1.0.
Please consider english is not my native language.

Good changes!

Is it up to me or can you hardly notice the blowing trees and the animated water? If you don't zoom in very close you won't see anything. Tiny little pixels are moving. If i zoom out a little bit, I don't see the animation. That is a little bit sad.

Why is in the main menu a spacing of several pixels between each one? That looks a little bit strange. U know, the black frame. Too much spacing? Is the developer slipped on the keyboard

Otherwise great work. The performance is also nice. The sounds are great.

Well, I tried 18. In general, I like it. New sounds... explosions... and saturation slider to be set to 80%. But also there’s micro-contrast boosted heavily, and there’s no slider for it, and likely it will never be there. Desaturated picture still hurts my eyes. Maybe I’ll adopt in the future...

Unfortunately, there are too many mods still not updated for this version. I had to downgrade. And yes, I made full backup copy before trying.

Sorry, but I don't like the new walking sound. TBH, it's horrible. :/ I cant't hear it. I love this game, but if this will remain, I'll stick with 17.x. Sorry guys.
The sound when opening a box is also much worse.

EDIT: Ok, I can separately reduce the walking sound volume so that it's tolerable.

My opinion is that the game which was already beautiful in so many ways is now even more polished.
I cant say much about the new sounds yet.

I know this is maybe a little offtopic but wasnt there an fff anouncement about a rework of the assembly machines? If so is there a chance we could be delighted by it in 0.18?

What about the improved fluid algorithm? The one with perfect splitting. I know you ran into some issues with waves building up, but is that still on the table?

Dominik (who was in charge of the new fluid algorithm) is no longer with Wube (mentioned in today's FFF). Quote Klonan:

5thHorseman wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2020 2:42 pm I see no mention of fluid dynamics. So has that redesign been axed officially?
Right now it isn't included in our plans for 1.0.

Things in this regard could change, especially if things go smoothly and one of the team has some spare time.

And so was the forum, wasn't it ?

"Steam users can now log in automatically through Steam without needing their Factorio account password."
Is there a way to stop this? Or at least ask me before logging in? The "can" implies that it's an option, not forced.
