Can't Launch game, Help

hey

I can't launch the game. ill run factorio and the loading screen will come up, but soon after a error will come up and close the program, the error says " content title, couldn't create atlas bitmap (size 8192x5047).probably not enough video memory" can anybody help?

Hi, could you please specify your system and hardware configuration?

I have an acer aspire R3700, it has an Intel Atom processor D525 1.80 GHz, 2GB ram and 64 bit windows 7 and Nvidia ion graphics, not the best but i was able to play the demo.

This is the first time I see this error, the demo needs less video memory, as there is smaller count of objects.
How much video memory does you card have? Does it have shared memory?
I always thought, that our graphical library tries to create bitmap in ram (memory bitmap) when there is not enough video memory, but I could never try it, however the game would be horribly slow.

I can try to create some configurable values, to test it, but it won't be sooner than on the next release.

video memory? Could that be related to my long-standing segfaults?
I know I said it many times, but once again - it would be nice to be able to throw something freely distributable at the libgl developers.

I got something similar on my laptop the other day when I cleaned out my fan, I have 6 gb of ram on my laptop and didn't get the 4 gb pushed in correctly so when I booted up only 2gb were registered, I started factorio not realizing it and got an error about video memory...unfortunately I didn't write down exactly what the error was (I simply plugged my 4gb back in correctly and was good) though I could probably recreate it easily enough by removing my 4gb card.

If you had any spare ram laying around I'd say plug it in (if you know how) lol. That may be a quick fix for this

Yeah, most people don't you could order some online (about $15 usd) Google Shopping search, but while that's what was wrong with my laptop there is no guarantee that it will work for you (though it is always nice to upgrade lol)
