I'm trying to create various arrangements that manipulate the flow of power through switches. IE some power poles are intentionally isolated from their neighbours for the purpose of correctly routing the power.
The problem is that the blueprints don't record this specific arrangement of power cables. When the blueprints are placed on the ground the power poles are not linked in the correct arrangement as recorded. It seems that signal wires (red / green) are set up, but not power cables. Is there any option in blueprinting to ensure this is done?
Can blueprints record exact power cable arrangements?
Re: Can blueprints record exact power cable arrangements?
They can't in vanilla.
However, if your need is "I want clean grid arrranged wires", there is this mod : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/power-grid-comb
This can help controling where the wires go to shut down more simply a column or a row of machines.

They can't. Full stop. It's not supported by the engine. Modding it would require a bunch of ugly hacks to make it look like they do.

I've added my vote to the thread.
Would require *implementation*, not hacks.eradicator wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 11:00 amThey can't. Full stop. It's not supported by the engine. Modding it would require a bunch of ugly hacks to make it look like they do.

In dubio pro reo: My guess is ozfoxaroo didn't use "implementation" as synonym (i.e. newspeak) for "hacks", but wants to have engine support added so mods can build on it.eradicator wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 6:37 amWhatever newspeak fits your boat mister.ozfoxaroo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:03 amWould require *implementation*, not hacks.eradicator wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 11:00 am They can't. A good mod deserves a good changelog. Here's a tutorial (WIP) about Factorio's way too strict changelog syntax!

Re: Can blueprints record exact power cable arrangements?
In dubio read the post again until you understand it. I said *modding* it would require hacks. And that is a fact. If the engine supported it natively (not gonna happen) it wouldn't be a mod. If @OP wanted to request something he'd have to do that in a different subforum. But w/e. I'm not here to speculate.Pi-C wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 8:32 amIn dubio pro reo: My guess is ozfoxaroo didn't use "implementation" as synonym (i.e. newspeak) for "hacks", but wants to have engine support added so mods can build on it. :-Deradicator wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 6:37 amWhatever newspeak fits your boat mister.ozfoxaroo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:03 amWould require *implementation*, not hacks.eradicator wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 11:00 am They can't.
