labs dont hold energy for me

Hi there my name is Sam, I recently bought factorio and it was all working fine until my lab stopped Receiving enough energy to work and i tried running other stuff on the same power source. I have tried uninstaling the game and deleting the file and then re installing and i have also tried it on different worlds and it just doesnt want to work properly. and it really sucks cuz i cant really progress in the game cuz i cant do any research. PLS HALP

You probably just need to add more boilers and steam engines.

If you click on a power pole, you'll get an overview of production and usage:

You'll want the consumption bar full and green and the production bar not full. That means all demand is being satisfied. If Production is full, that means your steam engine is running on maximum (which will very likely go together with a not-full consumption bar)

Thx Boogie but i have tried that and it doesnt work instead of the eight there, there is only a 2.0 and all the other bars are empty

You'll probably need to post a screenshot then, maybe then we can help figure out what's up. Start with the boilers and generators.

2kW is the idle power level. It means your lab has enough power but has nothing to do.

Is that a full-screen screenshot? If so, the top of your minimap is being cut off and should say "Press T to start a new research".

Go through the tutorial again.
Read up on power generation on the wiki.
Try again.
