question about splitter
question about splitter
what is a splitter? it "splits" ....
what does the current "splitter" do... actually: it "branches", e: or "mixes"
a splitter would be more like this?
---
this leads to the following:
removing the ability of underground-belts to actually split or more precisely: prevent one half of the belt from working...
--- which i personally would consider as unlogical or unintuitive behaviour... why? because when you have items on a conveyer belt
------- there is no way to actually stop one half of working... ofcourse this is currently not completely avoidable, because of taking from a full belt etc...
well anyways just another stupid thought i guess

Re: question about splitter
um, if you're going to be picky, I would have thought you would depict half a belt coming out of each side of your splitter
... or items being split in half after running through it...

Re: question about splitter
however i guess thats also a good idea - its only the problem that you cannot reproduce splitting a lane in 2 half belts, without the underground belt (bug)
Re: question about splitter
oh and if you weren't just making fun of the name, you can filter items through the splitter or configure it to prioritize one side or the other.

here:
CHALLENGE TIME:::
rebuild this functionality !!!WITHOUT!!! underground-belt
e: and ofcourse without filters...
--- and because this is not possible, the devs will stay with : splitting belts with ug-belts is not a bug
--- but obvously it is because just look at this shit xD

Re: question about splitter
And then you realize than an inserter can not only insert things into a container, but also extract things from containers, and the universe collapses into a singularity.

Re: question about splitter
Because I've seen enough hentai to know where this would be going

Re: question about splitter
Of course, because with filters it's trivial... Which is why you use them in this and many many other situations.

Re: question about splitter
not bad but still not 100% reliant
+ this just looks like replacing one bug with another - wouldnt the item get pushed to the other side by the other...
Re: question about splitter
Sure it is. Just keep the inputs from starving and it won't go wrong.
I'm sure it's on Rule 34. I've been there long enough to know nothing is sacred, even anomalies in space.

Re: question about splitter
...not to mention the bug where stuff never falls off the side of the belt.
Re: question about splitter

Lets complicate stuff a little:
Re: question about splitter
The only way for an inserter to hold an item is to extract it from something, be it a belt, container or assembler etc. Every use of an inserter involves both an extract and an insert. Calling it an extractor would be both just as accurate and just as wrong. What would you prefer to call it?
