[Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
[Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
I'm about 210 hours into a vanilla deathworld marathon map (default settings, no mods) and the biters don't aggro on artillery anymore. It seems like they will form a platoon and get ready to attack but never quite make it. It's making clearing new territory really painful because I first have to send in artillery to clear the nests, and then I have to manually round up all the biters and kill them myself.
My save file is 152MB and I uploaded it to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqtka9zaaer1b ... h.zip?dl=0

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
I'm seeing this in 0.17.59 as well. The biters seem completely uninterested in counter attacks to artillery. I was hoping the pathing issues fixed in 0.17.59 might help, so I held off researching artillery range until now. The issue persists.
I've had biters counter attack before on this map. They also counter attack when the occasional new spawner or worm appears. I'm providing a save moments before a range upgrade completes next to a wall with 70+ artillery turrets. About a minute after opening the save the research will complete and all the turrets will open fire. Not a single biter will counter attack.

Edit: the mods are not necessary to load the map or to reproduce the issue.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
It looks like some groups did finally decide to attack, very slowly over 30 minutes after the artillery fired. However it was such a slow trickle it was barely noticeable above normal pollution triggered attacks.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
I'm seeing the same in a deathworld/marathon map. Over 200 hours in, no mods. Saw it a good bit over the past couple of weeks; really saw it after .59.
It's almost as if their behavior when they start building expansion nests is activated...they don't usually attack artillery during that process, but no new nests are formed. Though, I've seen groups where a quarter of the biter group is trying to move through the rest who are not moving at all. In some cases, they've approached my laser lined walls and will attack one by one...the bigger group is completely paused outside the range of the turrets for minutes. Then, randomly they all move as a group...sometimes after delays up to an hour.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
Something similar in my game played 130 hours. Base artillery shoots and enemy group starts walking toward artillery. The group does not care when i throw grenades at them and personal laser fires, they dont start running they just keep on walking towards my base.
Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
Thanks. This should be fixed in 0.17.63. It might take quite a while after loading the save for everything to settle down again. If you don't mind running console commands, you can run “/c game.forces.enemy.kill_all_units()” to get rid of all biters at once and let them respawn again.
Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
This doesn't look very fixed in 0.17.63, which just landed today.
They now very slowly make their way towards the artillery, milling about, not even attacking unless they happen to be fired upon. It's more like a peaceful protest now. Even well within radar range, they just stand about or slowly walk in circles, just outside of the range of my defences. They form a stationary line that reaches all the way to the biter base that is under attack.
Edit: they seem to behaving a bit more normal again now, making their way to the source of the shells at a reasonable pace.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
It seems generally to be a fix. I am now being attacked all be it not as often as I was pre 0.17.59.
However hello UPS I have missed you. 12 UPS has become 26 UPS still missing the days of 0.17.43 where I was running at 30+ UPS.
I did have to run the console command above to get this but it has stayed 26 UPS ever since.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
Just had similar issue in 0.17.64 and only noticed after researched artillery.
Only 21h in the game and the map is not big but several times after artillery done clearing the base there is a group of biters just standing there.
First time I have seen it I removed the artillery and it felt like it solved the problem but not this time.
Save file and log attached.

Re: [Oxyd] [0.17.52] Biters have just given up on attacking
for me it is still happening in Version 1.0
artillery destroys biter nest -> biters gather -> they stay there forever (1h+) -> i have to fight them from close range (they do aggro my tank when i approach them)
happens in about 9 out of 10 biter nests. other nests that are more far away from the artillery turret might not have this behaviour (pathing or range seems not to be the reason for this glitch).
