More than 12 shortcuts

TL;DR
Allow for more than 12 shortcuts to be showed in the shortcut bar at a time.
What?
Currently there is hardcoded limit to how many shortcuts can appear in the shortcut bar.
I propose to either reveal that value (for modders to change) or raise the limit (to, say: 24, or dependent on screen width).
Why?
With some mods installed (i.e. but not limited to https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Shortcuts) there are many more shortcuts avaliable than it is possible to have in a shortcut bar at a time. It would be convenient to be able to show more, especially since there is space avaliable for at least twice as much.

I had been thinking about posting the same thing. Like the OP I have enough horizontal space for more shortcuts, and especially with the empty pair at the right shown when I open the "..." menu, feels arbitrary not to have them.

To my mind the "obvious" limit is "as many as fit between quickbars and the armor/weapon panel". When the screen size changes, move them to (the bottom of) that "..." menu, and they have a fairly natural overflow - and a simple UI rule for players to learn, which is "least important to the right, use the menu for them, and they are always at the bottom of it"

The current limit does feel a little arbitrarily small...

Add settings to GUI setting

show "x" rows of shortcut bar (<<< already there)
show "x" icons per row (<<< new one)

Make these two setting for Invetory shortuct AND for the side shortcut panel. Independent. Variety of monitors and mods is real.

Yes please, I would definitely like this. 12 now feels awfully small, given we have mods like Shortcuts which, very usefully, allow all mod-added tools to be available via shortcut bar icons.

I totally agree with TheBloke, we are given the ability to expand the hot bar past 2 lines, why not allow the same for the shortcut part of it?
Due to mods making use of it too, I myself have like 33 options for the shortcut bar but can only display 12 of them and constantly having to switch them out is starting to get annoying, so I just removed all the short cuts and started using it more like a pop up.

+1, make it moddable so people can decide for themselfs how many rows/colums they want.
