Alright heres a bit of background.
Tried picking up on a vanilla playthrough with a ribbon world when .17 first released, took a break and came back to it like a month or two ago but started having a memory leak issue. I have ~15 gigs of ram before thing go south and after about 3-5 mins of playing factorio would crash my whole computer. Tried unistalling and reinstalling and even wiped my mod folder since it was a vanilla run anyway. Didnt help so i took a break
I got back on yesterday and thought I would try again, same issue. Honestly was kind of tired of the map and figured I would start a new run in case the save file was the thing corrupted.
Currently running a modified marathon train world and play for several hours yesterday with no issue on the new map. Open the game this morning and the issue has returned. I delete all my other save files, install and uninstalled the game at least 3 times.
After opening the save once and closing the game this memory leak will happen even at main menu. If i restart and open game it idles fine until I open a save.
I have attached as many things as i can think of but please let me know if there are any other logs/files i can include.

Re: Memory Leak issues
That's very suspicious. Vanilla Steam version 0.17.54 on Windows 10 runs like this (after loading to main menu)
My suspition is that - either it is problem with old graphics driver (and _MAYBE_ turning off "Use flip presentation model" in graphics settings would fix that), OR you use some overlay that's leaking left and right (ie. Discord overlay is gift that keeps on giving, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was caused by Discord, but also never seen this happen before.) ... OR you caught some cryptominer malware that hooks onto running games to hide its CPU and memory usage.
I wonder how those 33% of your CPU used, so before you do anything, please download and install CPU profiler Very Sleepy. It's free and very light weight (just 4 MB download). Run it, then launch Factorio and reproduce the issue.
And like this when loading your save file (my home computer is in Czech ... sorry for that)
Save loaded
My log
As you can see, the game is supposed use just few hungred megs of RAM and very little of CPU.My suspition is that - either it is problem with old graphics driver (and _MAYBE_ turning off "Use flip presentation model" in graphics settings would fix that), OR you use some overlay that's leaking left and right (ie. - When the game starts using 30%+ of CPU, Alt+Tab to Very Sleepy, click Refresh so it updates list of running processes and then find and select factorio.exe in the list (you may want to sort the list by name, to find it better).
- Check "Profile for set time(s)". You can leave it at 100 sec, or maybe reduce it to 60.
- Then click on Profile All
- As it starts capturing for given time interval (it'll show dialog with progress bar), Alt+Tab to task manager to make sure Factorio still uses lot of CPU power.
- After 2 minutes Alt+Tab back to Very Sleepy, it should be finished with capture; Use "Save as" in File menu to save it to the file and post it here or email it to us, please.
Re: Memory Leak issues
So it seems to be running fine. Only change I did was close discord but whatever works.
Thanks for the help!
