Bugs that are actually features.

[0.17.50] Tiles are not build from train wagon's roboport

Post by jodokus31 »

Hello,

I have a minor issue with a train wagon's roboport not building tiles (stonebrick), if i drive in to the location where the ghosts are placed.
If I jump into the train (left most wagon has the roboport) and manually move to the right and stop, the robots place the other entities, but not the stonebricks.

If I place the tile ghost in roboport range, it works.
If I just place the yellow crawler vehicle from my inventory (which has a roboport, too) without robots or material, while train is in range, it triggers the robots in the wagon to build the tiles.

The save file is before i move the train to the right.

I would expect, that tiles are always built, too.

Best regards and thanks for the great game

The rolling stock with landfill doesn't have roboport in its grid and doesn't have robots.
And similarly, the rolling stock with roboport and robots doesn't contain landfill.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm not talking about landfill tiles. Its about the small 2x4 stonebrick tiling on the right. The wagon with roboport should contain all except landfill
Or is it somehow connected to landfill? Will try it.
EDIT: No, no difference.

BTW: The green area is the roboport range and no landfill tile ghosts

Oh, I am sorry, I misunderstood the report (long day).

Anyway, there are over 36000 tile ghost on the map all of which are outside of construction network. The game checks couple of them per tick whether they happen to be covered by network now, so it takes a while for it to find the tile ghosts you are interested in.
There are under 100 entity ghosts, so they are found almost immediately after getting into construction range, additionaly if there were too many ghosts to check, personal roboport equipment would start searching for them actively. Tile construction jobs are considered very low priority and don't have this active search logic. So it still is not a bug - using robots to build tiles is kind of "place and forget" thing. When you get back to the area later it'll be finished.

Thank you very much. I understand.
I removed a big bunch of landfill tile ghosts from another area and now it works with a small bit of delay. I guess its also better for UPS.

You guys are amazing. Keep it up and don't work too hard :)
