TL;DR
Improve server operations to keep lag down and stop the game from freezing when the server is saving the map.

Also incorporate a way to save maps so that when you re-join a server, you don't have to download the entire map, just the updates.


Why ?
Factorio is a one-off game for most casual players, the online component brings people back and keeps new players joining. Heck, I almost got 3-4 of my friends to get the game when a popular pvp server was running.....but that server shut down a month before our first planned match.

To be honest: neither of those are ever going to happen. It's just not possible with how Factorio works.
