Can't reply to a PM due the new user restrictions

Another user PM'd about my mod and now I can't reply, which seems silly. I understand the restriction to prevent spam/harassment but replies should be an exception

I thought these limitations had been turned off - providing the user has got the approval from a moderator for his or her the first post.
btw, was your post already approved when you tried to PM ? If not, could you try again, please ?

It was not.

The approval of this thread post lifted the restrictions so the issue is fixed for me. But the issue will remain for others who might be in the same situation

In a similar situation. I've had Factorio for at least five years now, didn't make a forum account up 'til now as I mostly communicated with an existing group of friends who I convinced to get the game. I wanted to private message someone about a private matter that doesn't need to be posted publicly, but the restriction is preventing me. The FAQ says, "There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board, or the board administrator has prevented you from sending messages. Contact a board administrator for more information." but I'm rather at a loss as to how to contact a board administrator if sending messages is currently disabled for my account.

Creating one none spam post in the forum will do the trick.
