This is a purely graphical glitch.
Due to the way cliffs are implemented as opaque, wierd trees i get some display issues, which are mildly irritating at worst. A brief list:
- boulders lie on running conveyors. They are actually see through so even their surface joins with the conveyor. Same goes for other structures aswell.
other ground dwelling entities like plants aren't affected.
- eg. Brick flooring has a wary unnatural seam, which is visible through the cliffs.
- sometimes in between to edges meeting like '<' you get a path winding down which isn't passable.

Hello, thanks for the report.
To resolve the report, we would adjust cliff bounding boxes so you can't build so close next to them, and to forbid building tiles under cliffs.
In my opinion, this would not make the game more fun to play, and would annoy players who don't care about graphics clipping occasionally. On the other hand players who do care, can choose to build their factories in a way that looks nice, without the game forcing them to do so.
