Hazard lights

Anyone know how hard it would be to add hazard lights / crash-avoidance lights to the structures in the game? The ones that radio towers have, so airplanes don't fly into them. I often find myself crashing into things at night before I've researched night vision and modular armor, and placing floodlights everywhere is a chore. Plus, I feel like there should be a cheaper option in the game, for just not crashing into buildings, instead of the full price paid for actual vision of the entire surroundings. :)

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/lamp-placer makes placing lamps less of a chore. Because in the end you will probably want to place some lamps at places anyways, and this mod makes it trivial.

can you make a list of Entities that you want these Hazard lights on specifically? or should i make that

Tiled walkways with hazard lights would be bad ass just saying. Would add a whole new dimension to the game. Could make some epic designs. Especially with death world and maze type maps. The map is always night, different pathways light up at different times, go down at your own peril. Etc.

I just never liked lamps in the game as they were, and if these kinds of lights were circuit compatible you could do a lot more stuff too.

But it's possible! One selection tool and you can get lights to any entity.

I didn't really want or need this mod but after looking at the finished result it looks really nice. Much nicer than I thought it would look after just seeing concept art. Maybe I should try this + lightorio anyways.
But right now I'm pretty much only planning my next base in Creative Mod and always day.

Sorry for the late reply; I haven't played Factorio a lot in the last two years (possibly at all...) and definitely have't checked the forums until today. If it was up to me, every building ever would have these lights, since I don't care about "realism", and I don't think it would unbalance the game much, since aliens could still sneak up on you in the dark. Or maybe it comes with two different researches - one for buildings that already require power, and one for everything else. I noticed in your screenshots on the mod, that it doesn't affect pipes - those are some of the most annoying things to drive into, since they have so little health. But it seems like your second mod, "Hazard Lights Selection Tool" would do the trick! Thanks!

(Although, I'm now several months late in replying to you, so maybe you'll never see this. /shrug)
