[0.17.14]Train collision only causes damage to standing train

Post by Impatient »

Steps:
- Create a heavy train
- Crash it into a standing train with full speed

Result:
- Moving train moves through standing train like a hot knife through butter - with full speed and without damage

Expected result:
- Colliding parts of both trains get damaged equaly
- A moving train gets slowed down by a collision (depending on its weight, velocity and direction of velocity and weight velocity and direction of velocity of the other train. I think in physics, this is the topic of "impulses".)

Savegame to show the behavior is attached. Load it without mods (just there to fast load the train), jump in the train in the south and drive full throttle.

I think the impact is so minimal with an huge train so you actually do not "feel" the impact.
I also think this behavior is like this forever. at least I think so

I certainly remember a YouTube video from a while back where... I think it was Xterminator slammed a train he was riding through a very large number of other trains in one of ColonelWill's megabases.

Thanks for the report - that's working as intended.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
