In this world in 0.16.51, I have researched mining productivity 128 (+256%).
Load in 0.17.9, I'm at mining productivity 5 (+50%).
Load in 0.17.6, I'm at mining productivity 25 (+250%). Save. Load the new save in 0.17.9 - again 25 mining productivity.
I guess mining productivity 25 is good. Loading the save directly in 0.17.9 looks broken. In 0.16, I'm playing with the 0.17 science mod in case that's relevant. Link to save file

Came here to make the same bug report.
0.16 saves loaded into 0.17.6 retain mining productivity bonus.
Loading the same save directly into 0.17.9 resets it to 50%.

Cannot reproduce, when I load your save in 0.17.10 I get this:

These are the migrations that are expected to run, they are the ones that run for me:
84.168 Applying migration: Base Mod: 2018-08-14_Factorio_0.17.0.lua
84.174 Applying migration: Base Mod: 2019-03-04_Factorio_0.17.5.lua
84.328 Applying migration: Base Mod: 2019-03-05_Factorio_0.17.6.lua
84.335 Applying migration: Base Mod: 2019-03-06_Factorio_0.17.7.lua
Could you post your log from a session where you load the posted save in 0.17.10?

I just tested it on this map without any mods.
In 0.16.51: In 0.17.9 it reverts mining productivity back to 50%
In 0.16.51: In 0.17.9 it reverts mining productivity back to 50%

Something went wrong when you updated the game and it did not remove files that have been deleted from the installation. Remove 2018-08-03_Factorio_0.17.0.lua and 2018-10-25_Factorio_0.17.0.lua from data/base/migrations and the save should load correctly. Please let me know if it worked.
The above issue usually occurs if you simply copy the new files on top of the old ones instead of using the updater. Please use the updater when possible to avoid these issues, or delete the whole data directory before pasting the new files on top.

Can you make updater delete those files?Bilka wrote: Mon Mar 11, 2019 7:10 pm Something went wrong when you updated the game and it did not remove files that have been deleted from the installation. Since it was non functional for few versions there is a big chance that a lot of people used folder overwrite method.

That's exactly what I did while the updater was broken.Bilka wrote: Mon Mar 11, 2019 7:10 pm The above issue usually occurs if you simply copy the new files on top of the old ones instead of using the updater. I presumed it would remove old files, but seems like that was not the case here. For future "installations" of factorio I'll remember to remove the data folder.
Removing leftover files from data fixed the issue for me.

Re: [Bilka] [0.17.9] Loading a 0.16 save with 128 mining prod researched => 5 mining prod researched
Hi I am not sure I follow here...
I built a new PC.
Installed Steam
Installed Factorio starting with version 17.01, currently it's on 17.14
Copied a savegame zip file from my old mac and put it in the savegame folder
I have the problem with research described here and elsewhere with the old map.

- Do I need to uninstall factorio and install a specific version?
- Is there something I was supposed to delete from Factorio?

You could just try reinstalling the game and then loading the old save. If you want any further help I will need a log file from a session where you load the old save.
