i have yet figured out how to clear the quickbars how can we do that on 0.17

Middle-click by default, can be remapped as "set filter" in controls.

I use the GOG version, and I can only update to version 17.01, how can I update to this version?

i have yet figured out how to clear the quickbars how can we do that on 0.17 you cant even change the items on the quick bar either my 9 bars are full and no way to change them to something else.

Same as clearing a filter, default middle mouse button, is working for me.

I just started a new game, research queue set to always, and I have no queue. I saw a couple of people reporting this in multiplayer but I am in single player mode (on Steam, from Windows, if that makes a difference).
