I use the pipette tool (Q) very often, to "pick up" a copy of an item if its on me and just place more of them. It works fine if I have the item but now that I'm using the logistic system I don't always have these items directly on me. So I'd just like to "Shift+Q" to pick up a ghost of the item I hovering above. (Shift because if I'm holding an item and I want to place a ghost of it, shift is the modifier key to do it)
A workaround is to Ctrl-C and copy a single item, but shift-q would be more intuitive for single item use because then I don't have to draw a rectangle around it.

You can already press Q to pick up a ghost of an entity you don't have, can't you?

There is an interface option called “Pick ghost item if no items are available”. I would say this has been implemented / already existed.
